Steampunk NZ Festival

Ōamaru is the steampunk capital of New Zealand, and for good reason! Along with its permanent gallery, Steampunk HQ, the town hosts the annual Steampunk NZ Festival, celebrating all things Victorian, steam-powered, and retro-futuristic. A staple in the Ōamaru event calendar, it has been bringing newcomers and enthusiasts together since 2009. 

Come one, come all to this year’s ‘Circus in Time’ themed event! Strut your stuff in a fashion show, twirl around the dancefloor for the gala ball, or try your hand at the weekend’s many unique activities – including a trinket swap, tea dueling, teapot racing, and more. Browse market stalls throughout the weekend, perfect your outfit, then join in the highly anticipated Grand Parade down the main street.
