Mariner Suites now open in Oamaru

The Waitaki District’s newest accommodation Mariner Suites is nestled in the perfect spot, with the striking Oamaru coastline on offer, and the stunning Victorian precinct a mere knucklebone’s throw away. The hotel’s doors opened on December 1st and straight away saw support from locals, with two Ōamaruvians enjoying a luxurious staycation that very night.

In the works since 2016, with a build time that COVID extended, the opening of this comfy acropolis is a momentous outward breath for owners Debbie and Ross Ward.

Cycle enthusiasts will be pleased to know the facility even has a sheltered lock-up bike storage area, so as you finish the Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail down in Ōamaru Harbour, there’s 5 star storage waiting for both you and your pedals.

Bringing vibrancy to a once-less-bright corner of Ōamaru, the façade of Mariner Suites is a nod to the local Victorian heritage and the red tin sheds down by the Ōamaru Blue Penguin Colony, while most of the interiors were designed and made locally.

Each of the 22 rooms has dreamy sea views, perfect for relaxing and unwinding at the end of the day while you plan your next Waitaki adventure!
