The quiet village of Ngapara was once a bustling agricultural centre in the Waitaki, with grain being grown to feed the local flourmill, which still stands in the town. There was once a regular train service that connected Ngapara with Oamaru and surrounding areas and is still a stunning area to drive through and is close to Island Cliff, Elephant Rocks and Anatini.
