The Mixed Dozen

Biking route

Distance: approx. 12.3 km Time: 1-2 hrs

The “Mixed Dozen” has variety for sure – gravel road, sealed surface, steep hill sections, farmland, pine plantations, downhill sections, quiet countryside, a swimming hole and beautiful rural views.

Parking available at Mill Domain on Factory Rd. Start by cycling North
along Factory Rd (past Vintage Machinery club), turning left onto Horse Range Rd and onto the tarseal. Cross the Shag River and continue to the intersection with Flemmings Rd and turn left onto gravel. Soon after, it’s a right turn onto Pagan Rd.

Follow until you reach the intersection with Jacks Rd. Here begins the next phase…hills. Turning left onto Jacks Rd
you’ll climb slightly and bend right onto Guffie Rd. Between Guffie Rd and Janets Peak Rd there are some short steep bursts – both up and down.

Enjoy the change of scenery as you head through pine plantations but do keep an eye on any children/novice riders in your group.

From Janets Peak Rd the ride is a nice downhill section onto Switchback Rd, with easy riding until you reach State Highway 85. Don’t miss the swimming hole at the Switchback Bridge. Now we have two options:

a) If riding on the state highway isn’t a concern, continue along SH85 into Palmerston, turn left onto Burraness St and this will see you back to the beginning at Factory Rd. Distance: approx. 11.1 km

b) If you’d rather be mainly off road, after 100m or so on SH85, turn right onto Hughes Rd, left onto Boundary Rd, then left again onto Burraness St. Carry on to Factory Rd.
